Clown 6
Connections Workshop – The Art of Clowning Relationships
Clown 6 Class
The clown’s emotional connection takes on multiple forms and manifests through multiple levels of simultaneous interaction. This workshop explores these four essential conversations that nourish clown performance
- 1- With oneself: The dialogue between the actor and their clown.
- 2- With a playing partner: The complicity between actors.
- 3- With the duo or group: The relationship and interaction between clowns and their characters.
- 4- With the audience: An open and dynamic conversation with spectators.
Managing these different connections at the same time can be challenging, and it’s easy to lose touch with authenticity, simplicity, and the lightness of play. Through simple, surprising, and highly effective exercises, this workshop offers practical tools to strengthen presence, listening skills, and the fluidity of clown performance—whether solo, in pairs, or in groups.
Inspired by Francine Côté’s method, Pedro Fabião’s sensitive and pedagogical approach, therapeutic clowning, and Jean Saucier’s in-depth research spanning over 46 years, this workshop aims to refine connection, relationships, communion, and communication—both among performers and with the audience.
Pilot workshop – Offered as a priority to Lab graduates and students of the 25-26 cohort. Free for scholarship recipients of the current cohort.
